Reviewing the best camera phones of 2022, including the top smartphone snappers from Google, Samsung, Apple, Sony and more. The Pixel 6 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra are still some favourite camera phone options right now, but the Xiaomi 12 Ultra, Sony Xperia 1 Mark 4 and Pixel 6a (plus the Pixel 7) are launching imminently. Google’s flagships are still two of my favourite devices when it comes to shooting great looking family photos. I already can’t wait to see how the Pixel 7 and Pixel 6a stack up to them. If you’re more into video, check out the iPhone 13 series or Samsung’s Galaxy S22 – with the Ultra’s camera proving more up to lower light photography and boasting an upgraded zoom lens.

I’m also a big fan of the Vivo X80 Pro, while those on a tighter budget may want to check out the Realme GT2 Pro or Realme 9 Pro Plus. These use Sony’s IMX766 sensor, same as the super-expensive Oppo Find X5 smartphones. Of couse, the Find X5 Pro and its cheaper sibling boast the excellent Marisilicon X NPU, to produce fantastic night photos and video.
