Reviewing the best foldable smartphones for summer 2023, including compact bendy phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra. As well as full-sized folding mobiles like the Samsung Z Fold 5 vs the Pixel Fold. Here’s my top favourite foldable devices that I’ve personally tested, check out my unboxing and review videos here on Tech Spurt!
If you’re after a mini mobile, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is still one of the best. That camera tech is only slightly improved compared with the older model, while the battery life is also limited. But that design is much slimmer, the super-sized cover display is better and the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 2 performance is top notch for gaming. As far as compact foldables go, it’s ALMOST my favourite.
Alternatively, the Moto RAZR 40 Ultra is a strong rival vs the Samsung Z Flip 5. You can open any phone app you like on that cover screen, which also serves up some fun time-killing games. The camera isn’t as good on the RAZR 40 Ultra compared with the Galaxy foldable, but the battery life is a bit better and it’s just more fun.
The Oppo Find N2 Flip also boasts a big cover screen and decent battery life, although the water resistance is gone. And you can’t run any app on that front display, unlike the Motorola RAZR 40 Ultra.
For fans of big phones-cum-tablets, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is still one of the best options. Battery life can quickly drain when using that big display in the sun, but the camera is as good as the Samsung S23, and the performance is excellent. Plus, it makes the best use of that huge foldable screen.
Other bendy smartphone options include the Honor Magic Vs – which loses the water resistance, wireless charging and smart software of Samsung’s foldable. Or there’s the beautiful Huawei Mate X3, which is stunning in the hardware department. But sadly, the lack of 5G and Google services makes it a harder sell.
