Coming up with my top 10 was quite tricky as we hit 2023. Manufacturers like Google, Nothing, Samsung, Xiaomi and Realme all offer a selection of compelling smartphones at a mid-range asking price. The Pixel 6a is still the best around for camera performance but rivals like the OnePlus Nord 2T aren’t far behind. Recent additions such as the Realme 10 Pro Plus and Nothing Phone 1 are also compelling, with unique features like wireless charging and curved displays.
That Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is lovable, although the gaming performance isn’t as good as last year’s A52s, so you may be tempted to look back instead. Meanwhile the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus is a bit of a mouthful but also a great smartphone, boasting impressive specs for a budget-friendly cost. For less cash you can also grab the Note 11 and regular Pro (check out my full comparison). And that Poco F4 is one of my favourite mid range smartphones in 2023 for gaming grunt, while the Motorola Edge 30 Neo is a compelling choice for small phone fans.
So many handset options to consider, so which is your personal favourite for under £400 here in the UK?

Different Types Of Power Supplies AvailableThere are a number of different power supplies for electronic devices available, these are usually split into two different types line-frequency and switching power supplies. A line-frequency supply is generally a reasonably straightforward design, but it becomes progressively bulky and hefty for high-current equipment as a consequence of requirement for large mains-frequency transformers and heat-synced digital regulation circuitry. Common line-frequency PSU’s are frequently called “linear,” that is a misnomer since the conversion from Alternating current current to Direct current is naturally non-linear when the rectifiers supply into capacitive reservoirs.
