Reviewing the best mid-range Android smartphones of Summer 2022 with the best camera tech, gaming performance and more, for a budget of £400 and under. From the Pixel 6a and Nothing Phone 1 to Samsung’s Galaxy A53 5G and Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus (plus the Poco F4). These are my favourite budget-friendly mid-range phones you can buy in the UK!
If you’re after an even cheaper handset, check out my reviews and round-ups of the greatest Android smartphones under £300 and £200 too.
Coming up with my top 10 was quite tricky this far into 2022. Manufacturers like Google, Nothing, Samsung, Xiaomi and Realme all offer a selection of compelling smartphones at a mid-range asking price. The Pixel 6a is still the best around for camera performance but rivals like the OnePlus Nord 2T aren’t far behind. Recent additions such as the Nothing Phone 1 are also compelling, with unique features like wireless charging.
That Samsung Galaxy A53 5G is lovable, although the gaming performance isn’t as good as last year’s A52s, so you may be tempted to look back instead. Meanwhile the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro Plus is a bit of a mouthful but also a great smartphone, boasting impressive specs for a budget-friendly cost. For less cash you can also grab the Note 11 and regular Pro (check out my full comparison). And that Poco F4 is one of my favourites for gaming grunt.
Realme’s excellent 9 Pro Plus and GT Master Edition are also well worth a squint. So many to consider, so which is your personal favourite?
